The practice was originally founded in 1969 by Dr. James Fagan and was shortly joined by Dr. Kevin McGuinness. Brian Fagan joined his father in 1996 and when Dr. Fagan retired in 2007, Brian took over his practice. When Dr. McGuinness retired in 2012 Maeve Moloney, having worked as an associate for four years, took over his practice​​. Anna Keane then joined Maeve as a partner in 2016.

As the longest established GP practice in Ballinteer the practice continues to specialise in family health with a special interest in peadiatrics, mens health and womens health.

Dr. Maeve Moloney​ M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O., M.I.C.G.P., D.C.P., D.C.H., D.O.W.H.​

​

Maeve qualified from UCD in 2002 with honours. She then worked in Australia in emergency medicine and paediatrics. She completed the North East GP training scheme in 2007 having worked in paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and general medicine. She has also obtained a diploma in Child Health, Women’s Health, family planning and psychiatry and was awarded membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2007. Maeve joined Dr. Kevin McGuinness and Dr. Fagan in 2008 as an associate and upon Dr. McGuinness’ retirement in 2012, set up Ballinteer Health with Dr. Fagan.

Her particular interests include paediatrics, women’s health, psychiatry and all aspects of general practice. Maeve lives in the area and is married with 3 young children.

Dr. Anna Keane M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O, M.R.C.G.P., M.R.C.P.I., D.C.P., D.C.H.

 

Anna graduated from UCD in 2003 and completed two years of hospital medical training in the Mater hospital Dublin and the Mayo Clinic, USA.


She then specialised towards general practice working in the areas of paediatrics and psychiatry before completing her GP training in the UK. In 2006 she became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She has a particular interest in areas of women's health including antenatal care, all areas of contraception and breast cancer care. She also has experience in medicine for the elderly, diabetes management and performs procedures such as joint injections, cryotherapy, Mirena coil/Implanon insertion and removal. She has spent time working as a GP in Australia and joined Dr. Moloney in October 2012 as an associate and in 2016 as partner. Dr. Keane is from the area and is married with 3 children.

Dr. Brian Fagan M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O., L.R.C.P

 

Brian attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland graduating in 1988.

​

He worked in hospitals mainly in Ireland and the UK before doing his G.P. training year in Somerset from 1994 - 1995. He joined the practice at Ballineer in 1996 as an associate before taking over from Dr. J.P. Fagan in 2007.

​

He has a special interest in male health, preventative medicine, medicine for the elderly, paediatrics and psychiatry.

Dr. Sinéad O’Kelly M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O., M.I.C.G.P., D.R.C.O.G.

 

Sinead graduated from UCD in 2008, after completing her internship in the Mater hospital she went on to work in Australia in the areas of emergency medicine and intensive care.

​

She completed the Dublin-mid Leinster GP training Scheme in 2017 having worked in general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and psychiatry. She also obtained a Diploma in Women’s Health from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

​

Sinéad was awarded membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2017. She has particular interest in women’s health, paediatrics, mental health, preventative and lifestyle medicine. 

Shirley Barnwell PRACTICE NURSE

​

Shirley trained as a general nurse in Mater Misericordiae Hospital, D7. She subsequently studied midwifery in Scotland and then returned to the Mater working in cardio thoracics and general intensive care. In 2011 she moved into general practice and loves the variety that practice nursing provides meeting people at all stages of life. Shirley also works in Lukedoc, our own out-of-hours service.

 

Her special interests include womens health and midwifery
